Education Sunday

This Sunday 8 September is Education Sunday when we ask God’s blessing on those beginning a new Academic year whether children, young people or adults.
At each of our Sunday Masses we’ll be praying for and giving thanks for all involved in our education system, especially all who teach and learn in our Church Schools, and also begin to welcome those arriving in or returning to Cardiff for University. In whatever way you are involved in Education then please do come along!
Book now for ‘Bread of Life!’

Want to explore the Christian Life? Well, there is another opportunity to participate in the ‘Bread of Life’ Course beginning this September.
The course takes place each Tuesday from September 17 following the 630pm Mass at St Mary’s. Each of the six modules will explore the Christian Faith through the lens of the Holy Eucharist, which is at the heart of our life together. If you’d like to enrol then please let Fr Dean know by today at the latest. You can find out a little more about the course here:
Patronal Festivals

On Sunday we celebrate the Patronal Festival of St Mary’s Church on the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
A week later, on 15th September, we’ll be celebrating the Patronal Festival of St Saviour’s which is the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (transferred from 14th)
School Masses

Last Wednesday, we welcomed St Mary’s School back for Mass, and this coming week we look forward to seeing children from St Paul’s School at 10am.
Each Mass is a lovely celebration, and all are welcome!
MacMillan Coffee Morning

Join us at St Paul’s on Saturday September 20 as we take part in the worlds biggest coffee morning raising money for MacMillan Cancer Support.
The kettle will be on from 1030am, and there will be loads of amazing cakes to buy!
Ministry Area Council
The next meeting of the Council is on Wednesday 18 September at 7pm. Please pray for the members of the Council who have the oversight for matters within the Ministry Area
At a recent meeting of the Governing Body of the Church in Wales , a motion was passed asking Ministry Areas to complete a self-evaluation exercise, so that there is a better sense of what is working well, and where challenges remain – which is one of the things we will be doing at the next meeting.
OMG! It’s time for young people!

Our next OMG! Event for young people takes place on Sunday 22 September at 5pm at St Saviour’s Church.
All young people are invited, and it is also a wonderful time for young Walsingham Pilgrims to reconnect, and for us to hear their stories and experiences as we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Walsingham. There will be a time of worship followed by a barbecue.
Fr Edward’s Licensing
Fr Edward will be licensed as Vicar of the Garth Ministry Area next Thursday at Christchurch, Radyr at 7pm alongside the Reverends Mary Evans and Ruth Coombs whilst Reverend Sandra Birdsall will be licensed as MAL of the Garth Ministry Area
Harvest

At the end of September, as Autumn begins to slip in, we give thanks for the Harvest.
Each week, we receive donations for Cardiff Foodbank, so if you are presenting any food for the Harvest celebrations, please can you ensure they are tinned or packaged. You can find out what items the Foodbank requests at their website.
