This Week

We look forward to activities with young and old, as well as prepare for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning! There are local celebrations and an early bird’s opportunity to book a place on next year’s Walsingham Pilgrimage.

Nursing Homes Ministry
Picture: Shire Hall Nursing Home

We have an active Ministry to some of the Nursing and Residential Homes in our Ministry Area.

Next Wednesday, there is a visit to Bella Vista at 11am and, for the first time, to Shire Hall Nursing Home at 3pm for a time of prayer and worship. Both take place each month. If you have family or friends who are residents then please get in touch with the Nursing Homes if you would like to combine a visit with the service. Also, if you would like to join Fr Dean in this regular ministry then please get in touch with him to explore possibilities.

OMG! It’s time for young people!

Our next OMG! Event for young people takes place on Sunday 22 September at 5pm at St Saviour’s Church.

All young people are invited, and it is also a wonderful time for young Walsingham Pilgrims to reconnect, and for us to hear their stories and experiences as we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Walsingham. There will be a time of worship followed by a barbecue.

St Saviour’s Patronal Festival

On Sunday, we celebrate the Patronal Festival of St Saviour’s Church with the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

Thanks to Fr Colin Sutton who will be presiding and preaching on this occasion.

MacMillan Coffee Morning

There are several Coffee Mornings for Macmillan across the Ministry Area beginning with St Paul’s on Saturday September 20 as we take part in the worlds biggest coffee morning raising money for MacMillan Cancer Support. The kettle will be on from 1030am, and there will be loads of amazing cakes to buy!

The next Coffee Morning takes place at St Mary’s on Sunday September 29th after the 11am Sunday Mass from 12 noon when we will have the usual tea and coffee time, but donations are requested for all the sweet treats on offer!

Harvest

At the end of September, as Autumn begins to slip in, we give thanks for the Harvest.

Each week, we receive donations for Cardiff Foodbank, so if you are presenting any food for the Harvest celebrations, please can you ensure they are tinned or packaged. You can find out what items the Foodbank requests at their website.

Walsingham 2025

Bookings are now open for the Walsingham Pilgrimage 2024 which takes place from July 21- 24 2024.

For the first time, bookings are taking place online, and you can discover more at the Eneter the Mystery webpages, which give details of the pilgrimage, how to book, and a link to a booking form. If you would like us to make the booking for you, then please speak to Liz at St Saviour’s, Georgina at St Mary’s, or Fr Dean. You can check out the link below:

Ministry Area Council

The next meeting of the Council is on Wednesday 18 September at 7pm. Please pray for the members of the Council who have the oversight for matters within the Ministry Area

At a recent meeting of the Governing Body of the Church in Wales , a motion was passed asking Ministry Areas to complete a self-evaluation exercise, so that there is a better sense of what is working well, and where challenges remain – which is one of the things we will be doing at the next meeting.
