Discover St Saviour’s

St Francis of Assisi (1921)

This is a beautiful image, showing St Francis with a gentle face, full of youthful innocence, and a look of prayerful contemplation. It was moved to St Saviour’s when St Francis’ Church closed in 1969.

It was donated to St Francis’ Church by Mr Edgar Rutter and his wife, Nellie.  As far back as 1916, Mr Rutter is mentioned for his good work in the parish, and in St Francis Church.  He served as Churchwarden and, in fact, he was the only member of St Francis to have been elected as Churchwarden to the parish.

In every generation, there are many lay people who serve the church in so many ways, and we are grateful to all those in our own day who work so hard.
