The Justice Cafe is simple.
We sit around drinking coffee, eating cake or sharing a simple meal. We chat about issues of injustice.
Each person brings to the table what concerns them, or a listening ear to the concerns of others. It could be local issues or something more global.
We ask the question, “What can we do?”
And then we think about how to move on and respond.
Can we get involved with others? Do we need to initiate something? Is there someone we can speak to? Is there something we can realistically do to make a difference, however small?
It doesn’t mean we will solve all the problems we discuss, but in some way we hope to make a difference.
The Justice Cafe gatherings usually have no set agenda, although on some occasions we may feel the need to invite someone in particular to shine a light on some concern, to bring a certain perspective to the conversation, an insight into the concern.
The Justice Cafe may take place in different venues, sometimes in one of our own spaces. At other times, we may settle into a local coffee shop.
The next Justice Cafe is at the space at St Mary’s Church on Saturday November 18th at 12.15pm. As well as tea, coffee and cold drinks we’ll also be serving a delicious bowl of soup!
So why not join us?
