More in Common

We are part of the More in Common Community Cohesion Network in Cardiff.

The present network is an amalgamation of two previous Groups: the More in Common Network inspired by the murdered MP, Jo Cox, and the South Wales Police Community Cohesion Group,

It’s new look was launched in October 2023 and brings together a diverse group of people across various sectors in Cardiff. At present, Fr Dean is the chair of the group until the first elections of the new group takes place.

Over the next year we will explore common issues of concern, working together to organise events, and to support one another to make a strong and safe community for all.

The Great Get Together

During the Great Get Together in June each year, an array of activities take place which brings a diverse range of people together

There are the Global picnics which took place at St Mary’s School, and in Grange Gardens in which St Paul’s School took part.

That’s not to mention our Great Get Together Barbecue at St Mary’s Church, and the food gathering at Oasis in Splott

The Day of the Soup

The Day of the Soup is a series of events across the communities of South Cardiff Ministry Area.

Different community groups share soup in a atmosphere of friendship.

Although we have held similar events before, they are now part of the Great Winter Get Together to combat loneliness and bring people together at the coldest and darkest time of the year.

Check out this video from one of the events in January 2023. We’re looking forward to more simmering soup in 2024!

I will not live in a country where thousands of people are living lonely lives, forgotten by the rest of us.
