Banns of Marriage

We hope all your plans for your Wedding Day celebrations are going well!

Here, you can make an application for your Banns of Marriage to be published in one of the churches of South Cardiff Ministry Area if this is where one or both of you resides. At least seven day’s notice is required for the first date of publishing banns. The Banns are usually read on three consecutive Sundays, and the certificate can be collected on or after the final Sunday.

There is a charge for the publishing of the banns and for the issuing of the Banns certificate which should be paid when you return this completed form. The cost from January 2025 is £50. You will need the certificate to show the priest of the church where you are getting married as proof that your banns have been read. It will be available from the last Sunday on which the banns are read. It is your responsibility to collect this certificate by arrangement with the priest. (There is no charge for the publishing of Banns in the church in which you are getting married). Please get in touch if you require any further information!

Cost and Payment

The statutory cost of publishing the banns of marriage and issuing the certificate from January 1, 2024 is £50 which you may pay by direct bank transfer, cheque or cash.
