Join us for a ‘Faithful Lent’ and explore what it means to be and become more faithful Christians.
Lent has been called ‘The Springtime of the Church.’ It’s a time of growth, and here you can discover all that’s happening in the Ministry Area to help us have a Faithful Lent.

Faithful Prayer
As we seek a Faithful Lent, why not introduce something new into your week?
For some, it may be a simple commitment to attend Mass every Sunday. For others, it could be celebrating Mass during the week or taking part in one of the other opportunities of prayer. Perhaps, you can find space in your day, wherever you are, to spend some moments in prayer?
We have a rich pattern of prayer and worship throughout Lent, Holy Week and Easter.

Faithful Giving

Being a Faithful Christian is often demanding. Jesus taught us to lay down our lives for God and one another.
We often do this, quite naturally, in our daily lives as we care for others with love and compassion.
As a Church, we also support and donate to charities and organisations which accomplish so much in our communities and throughout the world.
But we are also make a difference in our own way. We are involved in many activities which are made possible by people giving of their time and talents, and through regular giving to the church.
During Lent, there is a fresh invitation to reflect on the different ways in which each of us can give. You can find out more about why and how we can give on our Faithful Giving page.

Faithful Understanding
St Anslem of Canterbury coined a beautiful phrase: ‘Faith seeking understanding.”
He said, ‘I do not seek to understand in order that I may believe, but rather, I believe in order that I may understand.’
During Lent, we seek to understand our Faith by taking part in a weekly Lent course.

‘Act on Poverty’ Lent Course
This year we are using Christian Aid’s Lent course, ‘Act on Poverty’, which explores what we can do as Christians and as the church to tackle poverty and injustice in our community and in our world.
This five-session course takes place on Tuesdays at St Mary’s Church from 7– 8.30pm following the 6.30pm Mass. The course begins on and begins on Tuesday 24 February.
