Faithful Giving

“Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all.”

Are you ready for a Faithful Lent and Easter?

You make the difference!

You put the heart in our mission.

You put the soul in our service.

You are the one who helps us stand alongside those who seek sanctuary, a place to call home, far from home.

You are the one who enables us to look around, wide eyed to need, and respond with compassion and care.

You are the one who walks with our priests when they visit the sick, the young and the old, when they stand in the school assembly hall, or sit with the bereaved.

You are the one who helps our churches to be places of welcome, day in, day out, Sunday by Sunday, year by year.

You are the one who pays the bills, mows the grass, mends the broken windows, sweeps the leaves, keeps a roof over our heads, cares for the past and moves forward into a new future.

You are the one who feeds families in crisis, places a coffee into their hands, gives a smile, gives a damn.

You are the one who reaches out to help young people flourish and grow, to grow up, be safe, and who walks through the school corridors receiving high-fives.

You are the one who gives us priests to celebrate the Mass and place into our hands the Body of Christ, bury the dead, listen to pains, smile when we smile, and lead us on the pilgrim way.

You are the one who helps us build friendships with people of all faiths, creating communities that are vibrant and strong, speaking peace, speaking up and speaking out.

You are the one who helps us share our space with others, finds the common ground, allows us to lean close to the lonely, and never lose faith.

Yes, it’s you and your gifts which help to make us all that we are and all that we are called to be.

It’s you, and you, and you!

Make a Faithful Pledge

YOU are the church and YOUR regular gift enables us to continue all that we do, and will help us to do even more.

During Lent, we invite you to make even more of a difference by reflecting on how and why you give and, if you can, to make a new and regular offering to the churches of South Cardiff Ministry Area.

Together, we can continue to be a resourceful and creative community which is Welcoming, Faithful and Just.

How can I review my Giving?

Think about what you give regularly and ask:

  • Is it realistic? Is it affordable to me?
  • Is it generous? How does it compare to everything else that I spend money on?
  • What does my offering say about how much I love God?

Decide to give regularly and cheerfully, not sporadically and begrudgingly. There is so much joy in giving and seeing the fruits of our generosity.

  • Does my giving change me? How does it change others?
  • Does it deepen my faith? Does it help others to deepen their faith?
  • Does it express how dedicated I am to God and the mission and ministry of his church?
  • Do I appreciate the difference my offering makes?

Choose a weekly or monthly amount and make a pledge to give that amount regularly.

How much should I give?

The amount we give, of course, is relative and personal. Remember that incident in the life of Jesus as he watched an old woman place a single coin into the offering box?

What she gave seemed to be nothing compared to the vast amounts of money others did. But in reality she gave far more than all the others because, said Jesus, ‘She has given everything she has.’

So someone’s £10 a week may be the equivalent of someone else giving £20 or £30 a week…and so on! It all depends on our personal circumstances: how much income we have, and what necessary expenditure we have.

How can I give?

There are many ways in which you can make a regular offering to the Church but, like all our personal and domestic financial concerns, it’s helpful to plan!

Our Giving Page provides details about all the different ways in which you can give to any church in the Ministry Area, which includes

  • Direct Debit through the Church in Wales’ Gift Direct Scheme.
  • Standing Order
  • Remember, if you are a UK tax payer, you can also Gift Aid your own amount, which means that we can reclaim 25% of your offering at no cost to yourself.
  • Cash: simply place your offering plate before Mass, or use the regular envelope scheme. There are also separate envelopes available for individual and on-off donations which also have a Gift Aid declaration. Why not check out the Giving Page?
