Faithful Lives

Faithful Lives is our Lent Course for 2024 as we explore what it means to be Faithful Christians in a Multifaith society.

This four-session course begins on Wednesday 21 February at St Mary’s Church from 7 – 8 pm, and continues on Wednesday 6 March.

The course is being especially created and formed during Lent and so the following “ingredients” and structure may change!

Week 1: Faithful World

We live in a community, a country, a world which is full of so many different faiths, and this is certainly true of the communities of South Cardiff, as we live alongside and work with people of different faiths and cultures.

What do we really think of other faiths? Who and how are we called to love and serve? How and when did we become Christians? How did Jesus respond to people of different faiths? And what can we learn from his encounters?

Week 2: Faithful Friends

How and why is it important to have friendships with people of different faiths? What can we learn from one another?

Can we be (or have we been) inspired by people of other faiths? What does it mean to be part of a strong community? What does community and friendships look like? What is our calling as Christians within a multifaith community and world?

Week 3: Faithful Community

People often shy away from talking about religion and politics as it often becomes so divisive. Is this always true?

What does it mean to live together? What does it means to treat others as we would like to be treated ourselves? How are we connected to one another? What is the experience of Refugees and Immigration – for them and us

Week 4: Faithful Christians

Jesus gave us the great commission – to go out and share the good news with the whole world.

What have the last three sessions taught us about our place in the world and in our community as Christians? What has changed us? How can we be Faithful Christians, living up to our calling, whilst helping to create a world that is is peaceful and just?

The course is inspired by the book ‘Vibrant Christianity in Multifaith Britain’ by Andrew Smith but has been extensively adapted for our own local situation and circumstances.
